Microsoft PowerPoint tool is a widely used presentation program across the world so it's worthwhile learning to use it. It's a powerful tool to create clear and well-structured presentations that have a strong visual impact.

Microsoft PowerPoint

It's a slideshow presentation program that comes in the package of Microsoft Office suite as well as a separate application. With Microsoft PowerPoint tool, you can create electronic presentations consisting of a series of separate pages or slides. Also, you can combine text, graphics and multimedia content to create professional presentations. • Provide an illustrative backdrop for the content of your presentation.

Corrupt PowerPoint File - Why?

Despite a wide range of great features, there's a major drawback with Microsoft PowerPoint tool. The files created by this presentation program are likely to be corrupted. Just like any other computer file, PowerPoint files are not immune to corruption. Below are the most common reasons which are highly responsible for a corrupt PowerPoint file:
  • Virus and bugs
  • Sudden power failure
  • Hard disk crash
  • Software malfunction
  • Improper cancellation of PowerPoint program
  • Human errors

How to detect corruption?

If you find any of these following behaviors while publishing a presentation, it may indicate corruption:
  • The file objects don't appear where they were originally positioned on the slide.
  • Any object and/or text is being overlapped.
  • The animation you've used earlier are not working as expected.
Other than the items listed above, sometimes you may encounter unexpected error messages. Here's the list of some common error messages which you may receive while opening a corrupt PowerPoint file:
  • PowerPoint was unable to display some of the text, images, or objects on the slides in the file FileName.ppt, because they have become corrupted.
  • The file is corrupt and cannot be opened.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint could not open this file or could not parse a file of this type.
  • PowerPoint found a problem with content in Filename.pptx. PowerPoint can attempt to repair the presentation.
  • PowerPoint couldn't read some content in Filename.pptx and removed it.

How to repair PowerPoint file?

Whenever a PowerPoint file gets corrupt due to any reason, you may permanently lose your precious data. Sometimes the corruption is minor, though there's no way to detect the level. First, you should try to open the corrupt PowerPoint file in a different way. How?
  • Launch the Microsoft PowerPoint program on your system. Go to File menu, and then click Open.
  • Double-click the PowerPoint presentation in Windows Explorer. Drag the corrupt PowerPoint file to the PowerPoint program file or powerpnt.exe.
  • Now open the file by using one of the PowerPoint Viewers.
Also, you can try to open a corrupt PowerPoint file in a different program like OpenOffice Impress.
A valid backup file can play the role of a lifesaver here. If you have the backup, you can restore your PowerPoint presentation from it.
But if there's no backup, you must try to repair PowerPoint file with few easy manual tricks. The manual tricks don't require any 3rd party software. There are few built-in features in Microsoft PowerPoint program which you can use here.

Trick #1 - Open and Repair

This is the very first thing every user should try. Microsoft PowerPoint program has a built-in repair feature, Open and Repair. With this feature, you can repair PowerPoint file and open it with no problem. Follow these simple steps:
  • First, launch the Microsoft PowerPoint program on your system.
  • Now click the File menu on the taskbar, and click Open. Or, you can simply press Ctrl + O.
  • On the Open window, you need to browse the corrupt PowerPoint file. Select the file by clicking it once.
  • Click the drop-down shown next to the Open button.
  • Now click Open and Repair in the list.
Within a few seconds, the PowerPoint presentation will be repaired and opened with no problem.

Trick #2 - Insert Slides

If the Open and Repair trick fails or doesn't work, you can try to insert slides from a corrupt PowerPoint file into a new one. Follow these simple steps:
  • First, launch the Microsoft PowerPoint program on your system.
  • Now create a new presentation file into which you can insert the slides from the corrupt PowerPoint file.
  • Once the new PowerPoint file is created, click the Home tab on the taskbar.
  • You'll see New Slide section there. Click the drop-down arrow, and then click Reuse Slides... in the options.
  • A short window "Reuse Slides" will be launched at the right-hand side.
  • Now click the drop-down arrow shown next to Browse button. Choose Browse File... in the options.
  • On the Browse window, locate the corrupt PowerPoint file from which you to extract the slides. After that, click Open.
  • If you can see a list of all the existing slides, that's really good. You can insert the slides into the new PowerPoint file you've created earlier. Make sure the Keep source formatting box is checked.
  • To insert the slides, you can simply right-click the slide. If you want to insert that particular slide only, choose Insert Slide. Or, if you want to insert all the slides, simply choose Insert All Slides.
  • Once you're done doing that, you can save this new PowerPoint file.

Professional PowerPoint Recovery Tool

If you have no backup for the corrupt PowerPoint file and the manual tricks don't work for you, it's the time to consider using a professional PowerPoint Recovery tool. There are many vendors in the market which provide PowerPoint Repair tool with the free demo/trial version.

Easy and Safe Way to Remove Outlook Duplicate Items from PST Files

Posted by datarecoveryblogger
Do you have duplicate items in Outlook PST files? This may create some serious problems for you if you don't remove Outlook duplicates. Having duplicates of any mailbox item, be it an email message, contact or anything, will surely increase the size of PST file. If you have been using Outlook client since long, you must be aware of PST file size limit. An oversized PST file is prone to corruption, and you may lose all your crucial email messages and everything stored in the file forever. Outlook duplicate items are the primary reason behind behind an oversized PST file.

What are Outlook duplicate items?

Have you ever come across a situation where your Inbox folder is having duplicate email messages containing same subject, timestamp, and other information. A duplicate item can be anything in an Outlook data file, aka PST (personal storage table). It may be an email message, a contact, calendar entry, task, journal, appointment and even an attachment. Do you have any idea why or how duplicate items are created in PST files. The most common reasons are discussed below:

Reason #1: The primary reason behind creation of duplicate item is corrupt email on Server. This will generate duplicate items when Outlook starts its Send/Receive process.

Reason #2: If synchronization between Outlook profile and your phone/tablet is executed incorrectly, this may also cause duplicate emails and other data in your PST file.

Reason #3: If Leave a copy of the messages on the server box is checked on your account settings, then Outlook will create duplicate emails at each Send/Receive process.
Reason #4: If the email server or Outlook fails to respond during a Send/Receive process, next time when you will perform synchronization, this will download the previous email again and cause you duplicate items.

Why should you remove Outlook duplicate items?

If you're having duplicate items in your PST file, it'll increase the file size. How? Just for an example: your Inbox folder contains 1000 email messages, each 1 MB. This means the size of your Inbox folder is more than 1 GB. But if you're having duplicates of any those 200 or 300 email messages, this will increase the size of your Inbox folder. In the same way, if you're having duplicates in other mailbox folders, this will increase the entire PST size. PST file has a size limitation issue which means a PST file can't store data more than its definite size limit. ANSI and Unicode are two formats in which Outlook saves PST files. ANSI PST has a maximum size limit of 2 GB while Unicode can store 20 GB to 50 GB mailbox data. You must remove Outlook duplicate items from PST files in order to avoid corruption and data loss.

How to remove Outlook duplicate items?

There are two methods I can recommend here to Outlook users. First there's an easy manual trick that can remove Outlook duplicate items from PST files without requiring any paid software. It only requires Microsoft Outlook client, little knowledge and enough time. Follow the steps given below:

Step 1: First of all, launch Microsoft Outlook client on your system. Now select the folder from which you want to remove the duplicate items.

Step 2: On the View tab, click Change View option.

Step 3: Now change the folder view to table type view.

Note: Click Manage Views... check the view mode which you're currently on, i.e. either folder view or table view.

Step 4: On the Manage All Views window, check the view type. Use the following combinations of views and fields:

Calendar with appointments
Contacts with phone list
Inbox with messages
Journal with entry list
Notes with notes list

Step 5: Now right-click the column heading, and then click Field Chooser in the options.

Step 6: At the top of Field Chooser, select a field from the list.

Step 7: Now drag down the Modified field to the table heading.

Step 8: The duplicate items you want to remove must have a unique date from the original set of items. Therefore, click the modified heading to sort the items by this field.

Step 9: Now select the items you want to remove. Finally hit Delete button to delete the selected items permanently.

The above steps you can perform manually to remove Outlook duplicate items from PST files. If it fails, doesn't work or takes more than enough time, you should consider using professional Outlook Duplicate Remover software

Outlook Duplicate Remover Software

SysInfoTools Software provides you Outlook Duplicate Remover tool to remove Outlook duplicate items from PST files without causing any changes, alteration or damage to the original mailbox data. Manual trick will take more than enough time, but this software allows users to select single as well multiple PST files at the same time. It doesn't take much time, even the entire process is successfully completed within a few minutes. Software is available with free demo version, so that you can download it and evaluate it for free before purchasing its licensed version.

How to Split PST File into Multiple Smaller Parts Manually?

Posted by datarecoveryblogger
Microsoft Outlook is one the most popular email clients used by desktop users all around the world. It's not just an email client, it's more than that. Though it's commonly used as an email client application, but it provides various other features as well, such as: calendar, task manager, contact manager, note taking, journal, and web browsing. Outlook email client is also known as personal information manager provided by Microsoft in its well-known suite, Microsoft Office. Also, it's available as a separate application. You can't find anything wrong in Outlook client, except one thing. Though Outlook client provides you numerous features along with an excellent mailing environment, on the other hand, it has a major drawback.

Outlook Data File - PST aka Personal Storage Table

If you're using Microsoft Outlook client, all your mailbox data which include email messages, contacts, calendars, notes, tasks, journals, appointments as well as attachments, are stored into an Outlook data file, called PST aka Personal Storage Table. If you've been using Outlook client since long, you must be aware of PST file size limitation. PST file has a definite size limit which means it can't store data more than its maximum size limit. There are two types of format used to save PST files: ANSI and Unicode

What is ANSI PST file?
If you're using any older version of Outlook, such as; Outlook 2002 or earlier, the PST file is saved in ANSI format. ANSI is an old format which has maximum size limitation of 2 GB which means it can only store mailbox data up to 2 GB.

What is Unicode PST file?
If you're using any newer version of outlook, such as: Outlook 2003 or later including latest 2016, the PST file saved in Unicode format. Unicode is a new format which has maximum size limitation of 20 to 50 GB.

Oversized PST Files Can Cause Severe Issues

If you're having an oversized PST file, be it in ANSI or Unicode format, it may cause severe issues which lead to file corruption. If a PST file is reached to its maximum size, users can experience performance issues in Outlook client. But if it crosses or goes beyond the size limitation, it becomes prone to corruption. You can lose all your important email messages, business contacts and other mailbox data due to corruption. Being an Outlook user, it's your responsibility to keep your PST files handy. You can do two things here in this situation: first you can compress PST file, and second you can split PST file into multiple smaller parts. Here in this blog post, I'll show few easy manual tricks to split PST file without requiring any paid software.

Split PST File Manually

Though most of the Outlook experts recommend professional tools for splitting PST files, but I always recommend manual tricks first. You can try any 3rd party PST Split software only if the manual tricks fail or don't work for you. The manual tricks don't require anything, but Outlook client. If you're having sound knowledge of Outlook, you can perform the manual tricks with ease.

Microsoft Outlook client has few built-in features and functions which can be used to transfer mailbox data from one PST file to other file. You can perform the same task to move multiple mailbox folders from one PST file to other new PST files. I'll let you know how you can do that. But before that, you must know the features which you need to use here. Make sure you've backed up your original PST files before using any of the manual tricks shared below.

Microsoft Outlook's Archive feature

Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook client on your system, and then select PST file from which you want to move items.
Step 2: On the Menu bar, click File tab > Info and click Clean Tools in options.

Step 4: On the Archive dialog box, check Archive this folder and all subfolders option. Then select the folder you want to move. Also, define a date in Archive items older than option.
Step 5: Now in the same dialog box, click Browse to define a location where you want to save this new archive.pst file.
Step 6: The selected location will be listed in the edit box. Click OK to start the actual process.

Microsoft Outlooks' Import and Export feature

Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook client on your system, but don't open the PST file. First you need to create a new PST file here.
Step 2: Once a new PST file is created, click File tab on Menu bar. Then click Open > Import
Step 3: On Import and Export Wizard, choose Outlook data file (.pst) in the option and click Next to continue the process.
Step 4: On Export Outlook Data File window, select the mailbox folder you want to export from.
Step 5: Now click Browse and select the PST file into which you want to export the selected mailbox folder.
Step 6: Before you can click Finish, you can select other options (optional). Click Finish to start the actual process.

Microsoft Outlooks' Move to Folders feature

Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook client on your system.
Step 2: Create a new Outlook data file.pst
Step 3: Now expand the PST file from which you want to move/copy mailbox items. Select any mailbox folder in the navigation pane.
Step 4: Click Move tab > Copy to Folder... in the options.
Step 5: On Copy Items dialog box, select the new Outlook data file in the list into which you want to move/copy the selected mailbox folder.

Most Common Reasons for Access Database Corruption and Its Fix

Posted by datarecoveryblogger
There's no computer file immune to corruption, and it's a bitter truth. Be it any file, a document, database or an email file, corruption can cause inaccessibility and you may lose your data. Here in this blog post, we'll talk about Access database corruption and how to fix it. Generally, there are two ways to repair Access database: manually and by using a professional Access Database Recovery software. But before you can use any paid solution, you must try to repair Access database manually. We'll discuss this later in this blog post.

What is Microsoft Access database file?

A database file is used to store and organize data and information in a series of tables, table fields, and field data values according to the data model. There are many software programs which create database files, and Microsoft Access is one of them. It's a popular relational database program. An Access database file contains database structure (tables and fields) and database entries (table rows) as well as data entry forms, queries, stored procedures, reports, and database security settings. There are two types of database files created by MS Access: MDB and ACCDB. MDB is the default format of database created by MS Access 2003 and earlier versions. ACCDB is the new database format used in MS Access 2007 and later versions.

Access Database Corruption

Everything related to computer, be it a file or a program, is prone to corruption. There are numerous reasons which can cause extreme corruption in your Access database files. The most common reasons are discussed below:

Improper Data Synchronization: Data synchronization plays an essential role in database files. It's a process of synchronizing a single set of data between two or more devices to provide high consistency among data from a source to target data storage. This may cause serious problems if any interruption is occurred during synchronization or if the process is performed improperly.

Virus Infection: Computer virus is the main reason behind data loss and file corruption. Access database files are not immune to virus attacks. Virus can harm your computer data and files by deleting or overwriting them.

Abruptly System Shutdown: While working on a database file, if your system turns off due to sudden power failure, the database file may become corrupt.

Forcefully Cancellation: In the same way, if you're saving a database file but you close the Access program in the meanwhile, the database file may become corrupt.

Media Failure: If the storage media, be it system hard disk or any external removable media, fails due to any logical or physical failure, your database files may become inaccessible or corrupt.

Software Malfunction: Software malfunction or failure can be occurred due to bugs and other reasons. Also, MS Access program may collide with other installed programs, cause Access database corruption.

Compact and Repair Utility | Built-in Repair Method

Whenever you face any error messages while opening or using an Access database, this means the database file is corrupt and you need to repair it to save your data and information. Luckily, Microsoft provides you Compact and Repair utility along with a couple of built-in features which help you repair Access database. First you must try Compact and Repair utility before anything else.

How to use Compact and Repair utility to repair Access database?

Step 1: First of all, open Microsoft Access application on your system. Please don't open the database file.

Step 2: Click Database Tools tab on the menu bar.

Step 3: Now click Compact and Repair Database above Tools section.

Step 4: On Database to Compact From window, select the database you want to repair. Then click Compact.

Step 5: On Compact Database Into window, create a new database into which you want to compact the old database. Then click Save.

You're done here. Before using Compact and Repair utility, make sure no other user is using the same database you are trying to repair.

You can also try JetComp.exe provided by Microsoft. If you've created your database file with Microsoft Jet database engine 3.x, you must try JetComp.exe once. There's one more thing you can try here to repair Access database. If you're using MS Access 2007, you can try to import old database into a new database.

Professional Solution

MS Access Database Recovery Software best fits your need. It's smartly programmed for handling Access database corruption. It can scan corrupt database files for errors, and repair them. All the recovered data objects of corrupt database file are saved into a new database file. It supports both MDB and ACCDB files created by any MS Access version. Before purchasing licensed version of this software, users can download demo version for free evaluation. Demo version can repair Access database and allow users to check the preview of recovered data.

Archive Recovery Software - Data Recovery From Corrupt Archive Files

Posted by datarecoveryblogger
Have you ever tried any data compression method? It can help you reduce your files' size, so that enough free space can be available in your hard disk. Though there are various types of archive files, but none of them are immune to corruption. Data corruption is occurred due to several reasons, and can make the archive files inaccessible. You have to repair archive files in order to access them, or you can recover your data from them via a professional Archive Recovery Software.

Importance of file compression

File compression is the most common and safest way to reduce file size. It’s also helpful in storing data and sending them over the network. Compressed files are generally small in size. A safe compression algorithm is used for file compression. The technique is considered highly safe as it only reduces file size; hence no changes or modification is made. The originality of data is kept intact after file compression. If the files are compressed, they can easily be shared or transmitted over the network. The key benefit of file compression is to get enough free space on hard disk, so more data can be stored with ease.

There are five different archive formats commonly used by desktop users:

ZIP Archive: ZIP (Zicxac Inline Pin) is commonly used for data compression and archiving. A ZIP archive can easily contain one, two or multiple files in compressed form in order to provide more space on hard disk. Also, it provides good transmission speed. WinZip and WinRAR tools are commonly used to create ZIP archives.

RAR Archive: RAR (Roshal Archive) is the best data container to store various files in compressed form. A RAR file can easily be created with the help of WinRAR program. It has some more advanced features than ZIP archive.

TAR Archive: Though TAR (Tape Archive) is not a compressed file format, but still it’s known as a compressed file. It’s commonly used to store a large number of files into a single file. It’s best known for archiving files in Linux operating system. It can be created by using TAR program.

TAR.gz Archive: TAR.gz is known as the most common compressed file format in Linux operating system. It’s considered a better archive format than TAR because it’s a compressed archive file format unlike TAR which is only an archive format. It can be used both for archive as well as data compression. It’s also created by using TAR program.

7z Archive: It’s one of the best archive formats with a high-compression ratio. It can easily compress files up to 16000000000 GB. The 7-Zip program is mainly required to create 7z files.

Most common reasons for corrupt archive

Where archive files are highly useful, on the other hand they may indulge with corruption. As the fact says that no computer file is immune to corruption, so as an archive file. Data corruption in computer is always an inevitable task which is certain to happen. There are various reasons for corruption in archive files. I’ve listed a few common reasons below:

Virus attack: Computer virus is the most common reason behind any type of data loss or corruption. Even archive files are not immune to corruption virus attack or infection.

Poor connectivity: Poor network connection can make your archive files corrupt. How? For e.g. if you're uploading/downloading any archive file, it may get corrupt if network is poor or interrupted by anything.

Hard disk failure: Hard disk failure is not only harmful for archive files but also for the entire data stored in it. Hard disk failure can be occurred due to several reasons overheating, mechanical failure, etc.

Abruptly system shutdown: Abruptly system shutdown can also cause you data loss or data corruption. The main reasons behind abruptly system shutdown are sudden power failure, forcefully shutting down the PC, etc.

Software malfunction: Software malfunction refers to software failure which is occurred due to collision of software programs with one another. Also, software failure is caused due to the bugs found in the program.

Aforementioned reasons are highly responsible for corrupt archive files. No matter what's the reason behind corruption, but it'll often result in data loss. If your archive file is corrupt, be it ZIP, RAR or any, neither it can be opened nor any data can be extracted from it. The only thing that can help you restore your data is a backup file, but it should be valid and updated.

How does backup help you?

If you've backed up your archive files earlier using NT-Backup utility or any other Backup Exec, you can successfully restore them at the time of data loss or corruption. A backup file can contain multiple copies of your data which can be restored from the file at any time in their original form. I strongly recommend each and every one to implement backup practice in their day-to-day life. A backup file can be a life-saver in your hard times.

But unfortunately if there's no backup file available, it might be a problematic situation for anyone. Sometimes this may also happen that backup file is available, but it's corrupt or not updated. This might a challenging situation for users to restore their data back from the corrupt archives.

Professional Recovery Solution - Archive Recovery

When nothings works out for you, you must look forward to a professional recovery solution. This is the only thing that can bring your data back from corrupt archives. There are many software companies in the market providing such recovery tools which can recover data from corrupt archives with ease. Archive Recovery tool from SysInfoTools Software is one of them, or I can say best among them. This is the only available tool that can support all popular archive files, such as: ZIP, RAR, TAR, TAR.gz and 7z. No matters what you are, a tech-savvy or a novice computer user, you can use this software with ease. It provides you an interactive and user-friendly interface that requires no prior technical expertise. You must download its free demo version so that you can evaluate the software before you can purchase its licensed version.
